Salvador Ching’s Bamboo Art Installation VOYAGE

Salvador Ching’s VOYAGE Bamboo art installation… in the shape of a BOAT, depicts one person’s desire to travel, either to make a living, learn & explore new things or simply relax.

Two years ago, in 2019, Ching was invited to make an art installation in China together with two Malaysian Artists & two Thai Artists. This year, he was invited once again to represent the country to do another bamboo art installation. But due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic, the artists were then requested to install their art in their respective countries.

Ching’s inspiration for this year symbolizes the effects of the pandemic in our lives… “na muli tayong maglalakbay tungo sa panibagong normal to continue our journey in life.’ cited Ching (that we will continue to move on towards the new normal).

It took Ching almost one whole month to gather and prepare the materials needed, around 200 bamboo pieces… but it only took him one day to install the said art piece. Salvador Ching’s “Voyage”, the 15ft high x 30ft x 10ft Bamboo Installation Art, will be on display until November this year. You can check it out in the front lawn of the Museo ng Bulacan, Bulacan Provincial Capitol Ground, Philippines
