Aslie is a 19-year old self taught artist from Balas, Mexico, Pampanga. He just graduated high school when he started to pursue his passion in art.
In spite of his financial limitations, he was able to find a way to source his art materials, by looking into his own pantry. With the use of plastic sachets from coffee, can wrappers, foils and even magazine clippings, he was able to make portraits of some of the famous celebrities of the country.
He even use the products that celebrities endorsed for the said portrait.
This is currently a personal hobby that Aslie enjoys doing, but eventually would like to see himself doing this full time in the future.
It was his work on the recent “tara kain tayo sardinas nga lang ang ulam” using the sardine can wrapper that caught our attention. Aslie said, “Naisip kong gawing art yung delata na galing sa community pantry” which we think is a perfect medium of the said art piece.
