Lito De Guzman’s Ballpen Art

Lito De Guzman is a graduate of Bachelor of FineArts major in Advertising Arts and has been working in University of the East as a college secretary and as an Art instructor. Inspite of his busy schedule, Lito was able to gather his artworks and open his 16th one-man-show in Le Souffle, Top of the Citi, Citibank Tower in Makati City this May 5, 2008 entitled “SMALL WORKS” that will end by May 30, 2008. 

Lito came from an artistic family. Where his mom, a clothes designer and the one responsible to create bags from straws; and his uncle that is musically inclined. Though Lito’s father wanted him to be a lawyer, his passion for art was strong and pursued in this career.

What made Lito unique is his use of ballpen to create art. Back in the days, the only available colored ballpen are black, blue and red. So, during his high school years, his artworks are usually monotone in color. But due to technology and available of various colored pens at this time, he was able to use it in his advantage. Making his artworks more alive, inviting and impressive. One small artwork can take him at least two days to finish.

Exposure to different mediums like Digital art, water color and crayons, it gave him an opportunity to develop his skill and create more intricate and artworks that impressed many.

Among his favorite artists are Cesar Legaspi, Hernando Ocampo, Vincent Vanghou, Paul Genkins and Pablo Picasso.
