las pinas boys choir The Las Piñas Boys Choir was founded in 1969 by Fr. Leo Renier for the purpose of having a group of young voices to sing at church services.  Composed of young boys between the ages of 8 and 15, they are enrolled at St. Joseph’s Academy, where they enjoy academic scholarships and are directly exposed to the cultural activities both in and out of the institution.

The existence of the choir is closely connected with the presence of the world-famous Bamboo Organ in Las Pinas, and the group has regularly performed at the annual International Bamboo Organ Festival since the event’s inception.

In 2008, under the tutelage of Armando Salarza, the choir was declared World Champion in the 5th World Choir Games in Graz, Austria for the Children’s Choir Category; they were also awarded a silver medal in the Musica Sacra category.

In December 12, 2012, the choir participated in the Patron of the Arts concert mounted by the Jesuit Communications Foundation as endorsed by Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle, DD, STD. for the purpose of Manila Cathedral’s renovation. They also performed during Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX 2013) at SMX Convention Center in line with the Department of Tourism’s branding campaign.

The choir’s latest recorder CD is entitled “Angels on High” in collaboration with other children’s choirs.

They were then invited to hold singing engagements in hotels, corporate functions, inaugurations, weddings and other private functions which continuously make the Las Piñas Boys Choir visible, further magnifying their sterling performances around the Philippines.
