Witness the exciting emergence of young butterfly and observe the interesting early stage and other unusual creatures such as praying mantis, stick and leaf insects, giant scorpions, atlas beetles, and other jungle insects. Located at Sta. Monica, Puerto Princesa City, the Butterfly Garden is part of the city day tour.
It was established by a former tour guide of Palawan named Roy Rodriguez. He used to have several Japanese tourists that always requests to see butterflies. To be able to see butterflies at that time, one has to go up the mountains and course your way thru nature that will take hours and endurance in the part of the visitors. Because of this, Roy decided to create a butterfly garden in the city to make it more accessible to visitors and at the same time, educate and reach a wider audience.
The landscape of the garden was made similar to the natural habitat that one can see in the mountains. This now only benefits the butterflies with their productivity but also will give the visitors a glimpse of being in the mountains in just a few minutes drive within the city.
Baker’s Hill on the other hand is located a few minutes drive or multi-cab from the Butterfly garden. This was once a bare land but the owner of this place has a vision, he created a beautiful landscape which surrounds his house. And surprisingly, it is open to the public. Family and friends are welcome to enjoy the garden, have a picnic, shop for some souvenirs, enjoy the pastries in the bakery, dine in the restaurants, playground for young and old alike, and a overlooking view of Palawan.
