Have you ever tried serving food on a tray made of vine? How about eating dinner having a vine as a placemat? Well, this is something new and unique that will surely excite you and your visitors alike.
Check out the placemats and trays made from Nito Vines of Aklan. These vines are harvested from the wildforest of the province. They pick up the matured vines and weave them using their hands, making one round placemat within 3 days. The vines are widely harvested in the region and there is no sign of shortage or limit to its supply. Nito vines grew fast and are not very sensitive thus making it easy to multiply and produced. According to Ms. Dea Pelayo, the Agrarian Reform Officer of the region, “With its abundant supply, the people of Aklan, together with the help of the ARC (Agrarian Reform community), were able to give women in the community a source of income, exercise their artistry and creativity with what nature has to offer.”
