This 32 hectare facility has been in operation for about 10 years and it is the only fish port in the Philippines to be accredited by the EU (European Union). It lies along the shores of Sarangani Bay, constructed and financed by the Japanese Overseas economic cooperation fund.
This infrastructure provides post harvest facilities, and serves as a landing and trading area for the fisheries sector. The fish port also offers preservation facilities such as ice, processing plants, cold storages, contact freezers and blast freezers.
Out of the 32 hectares of land, 12 hectares of the fish port are dedicated for landing, trading and other activities to the fishing industry. The 20 hectares are dedicated for any investors to build their factory, processing plants and cold storage.
Trading and business transactions in General Santos Fish Port have been boosted by the newly constructed access road which links the port to the major business centers of Cotabato Province and the region. The Fish port is also adequately supported by facilities for telecommunication, banking, transportation and allied business services found in General Santos City.
Investing or leasing a space inside the fish port is a huge advantage. Not only that all the raw materials are within reach but also there is a one stop shop center that was also established wherein all the government agencies involved in the fishing industry, for local or export, are located in one area, such as the Bureau of fisheries, the coast guard, the immigration, customs, and laboratories to name a few.
Miguel Lamberti, the fish port manager cited “There are many opportunities here in GenSan. We have a high demand in cold storage facilities. Though we are able to accommodate 3000 metric tons, still, there is a shortage. Invest and lease a space in General Santos Fish Port, our office is open to assist you for your inquiries”
